The inflammation of the lining of the sinuses is known as a sinus infection or sinusitis.
According to some studies, around 35 million Americans suffer from this infection at least once every year and usually people who have nasal polyps, nose swellings and immune system deficiencies and those that are on immunity suppressing medications are prone to this condition.
When the sinuses are blocked they are not receiving the needed amount of air and as a result different infections and germs can develop. The usual symptoms include facial pain, headaches and fever. On the other hand, the most common reasons of sinusitis are allergic rhinitis, a deviated septum, common cold and nasal polyps.
Types of sinusitis:
- Acute sinusitis is usually developed with symptoms such as facial pain and stuffy nose which are associated with a simple cold. This might happen out of nowhere and it can last between 2 to 4 weeks.
- Subacute sinusitis is an inflammation which usually lasts between 4 to 12 weeks.
- Chronic sinusitis is a condition which lasts for more than 12 weeks.
- Recurrent sinusitis usually appears a few times throughout one year.
The most common medicine that are used for treating sinusitis are antibiotics. They are not always the best choice since they cause a lot of side-effects. This is why, herbal remedies are recommended as the ideal treatment.
Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment for Sinusitis
There are a number of uses for apple cider vinegar and this liquid is known to be a successful remedy for other conditions. Apple cider vinegar is full with malic acids, vitamins, antioxidants and minerals which are really helpful in destroying bacteria, since it is capable of helping the body flush the bacteria more efficiently.
